FDU Feeding and Dosing Unit
Linienförmige Zuführung und punktgenaue Dosierung
The FDU feeding and dosing unit ensures a fully automatic, continuous material feedingl to calender systems. It is used in the production of battery electrodes using the dry coating process (DBE), as well as in the lamination of extremely thin films onto anode and cathode conductor foils. The pre-treated, dry, powdered bulk material mixture (battery mass) is evenly distributed and fed precisely into the roll gap. A specially developed design, combined with intelligent level control, reliably prevents material compaction and bridging. Depending on the application, various versions are available, optimally tailored to your requirements.
Your benefits at a glance:
• Flexible automation: semi-or fully automated feeding and dosing
• High process reliability through design-based prevention of compaction and material bridging
• High efficiency thanks to high throughput rates
• Precise, uniform and linear material distribution
Produktvorteile
The FDU feeding and dosing unit stands out for its high flexibility, reliable process quality and a service-friendly design. Its modular design allows for optimal adaptation to a wide range of applications – whilst ensuring clean and safe operation.
Flexibility
The FDU impresses with its modular, compact design and can be optimally adapted thanks to a flexible mounting system with height and angle adjustment. The decoupled material feed also ensures a stable and reliable process flow.
Quality
The design reliably prevents bridging and material compaction in the feed hopper, ensuring a uniform and continuous material flow. At the same time, all components in contact with the product are made of stainless steel, thereby meeting high standards of hygiene and durability and long service life.
Service-friendly
The unit allows for easy cleaning and maintenance, for example via a removable side panel (optionally with quick-release fasteners). Furthermore, quick installation and straightforward commissioning ensure minimal downtime.
Safety
The FDU guarantees dust-free operation without emissions, thereby ensuring a clean and safe working environment.
Closed design for clean, controlled processes
A closed design is available for production use. This is fitted with a feed hopper including an automatic material feed system, for example via a vibratory feeder. A seal reliably decouples the material feed from the process chamber. Side inspection windows allow direct observation of the process. The closed version is also fitted with a lid with a seal and ring eyes, a suction filter housing including a filter, and a terminal box. This version is also designed for ultrasonic cleaning.

Processes and applications
The FDU feeding and dosing unit ensures a uniform material feed and a linear discharge of powdered bulk material mixtures to downstream processing systems. Typical applications include the fully automatic feeding and dosing of battery masses to calender systems for production of dry battery electrodes.

Maximum flexibility in feeding and dosing
The FDU feeding and dosing unit is available in two versions: the open design is suitable for smaller-scale testing and experimental applications. It features a feed hopper with manual material feeding, integrated level sensors and a terminal box, and is prepared for ultrasonic cleaning.
